Thoughts on unplugging the EGR
So, after plugging in the EGR and driving around for a bit I got two codes on the way to work this morning:
P2BAC Fuel air metering aux emissions controls
P2271 O2 bank 1 sensor 2 rich
Should I have the dealer iron this stuff out before I do the deletes or nothing to worry about?

Still running good but for caution I put the code reader on mine today to see what is going on and it looks like I picked up 2 codes:
P244A (DPF Sensor to low)
P2002 (DPF efficiency below threshold).
I believe I can't leave it with these DPF codes coming on or it will de-rate. Looks like I will be plugging back up until I get comfortable enough to just do a full delete. Gonna give it a full year.

Well, so much for that theory. I unplugged the EGR & removed the white gear last Friday. Engine power derated again yesterday. So it's NOT the butterfly valve that closes partially to cause the drop in HP. I guess you guys already knew that...
Question, what will happen if I plug in the EGR (to get my power back) and don't re-install the white gear on the butterfly valve?

In case anybody cares, to answer my own question: running the EGR plugged in with the white gear M.I.A. can cause a slight case of turbo fart and the code "Turbo speed sensor, overspeed" (or something like that) along with the usual EGR codes (aux. emission controls, O2 sensor stuck rich, etc). The power was NOT restored in this configuration, so you have to plug in the EGR and re-install the white gear to get your power back.
Here's my best shot at describing it: It's when the turbo spools up and then suddenly slows due to a drastic drop in RPM. You'll hear a "woof" when it happens, I always assumed it was the blow-off valve opening. Fairly common on the 5.9 with the 47/48re, because there was a big jump in RPM between 3rd and OD at about 45mph. If you were pulling heavy or going uphill and let it drop into OD (because you forgot to lock it out or put it in tow/haul) it would fart pretty bad. Never experienced it in my 4th gen until the other day. I assume it had something to do with the EGR being open at the same time as the clean-air intake butterfly valve because the white gear was M.I.A. It's possible the intake pressure built up to more than what the engine could use, given the right circumstances. I was accelerating uphill, it shifted from 4th to 5th and "Woof". Somebody will correct me if I'm wrong.
AKA turbo bark. simple explanantion is the quick drop of boost where pressurized air that was created with higher boost flows backwards causing this sound. fart, bark, burp and several other clever names for it
