over heating auto

My transmission got hot today (268) I was in low range first gear. I did have a good load and was in a soft field. Why in the heck would it get hot locked in first gear? Stock power 3/4 throtal for 3/4 of a mile is that really asking to much?

Because the TC does not lock up in 1st gear. In low range you should of been fine to be in 2nd where the TC will lock up.

dodge should really use an electric tranny cooler fan/system. Not much air movement either thru the trans cooler.
