Oil Change indicator

Changed the oil at about 700 miles, now at 2800 miles the indicator is on. I know it is based on a algorithm, but shouldn't it be at 7k?

I have some questions for you that should help us help you.
1. Did you reset the oil change interval, per your owners manual?
2. Do you do a lot of city driving and or let the engine idle a lot?

If you do a lot of city driving such as a grocery getter or commuter car you will regen more often. Thus you could have fuel dilution in the oil even by 1200 miles. The ECM which monitors the engine uses an algorithm to determine fuel dilution in the oil and sets the oil change reminder at a predetermined level.
So you may need to change the oil every 2100 miles if this is the case.

With 3oK on mine I do a mixture of mostly highway and some city driving daily. At every 4K I get the message. When I tow my 5th wheel on long trips the message is extended to over 5K. The heavier you tow the less regens you will get as well as longer intervals (oil changes).

How do you reset the reminder? Mine came on for the first time at 9,200 but I have changed the oil 3 times now last time at 9,600.
