Oil Change Already??

Just had the oil changed and before I could drive it 30 miles it (the EVIC) told me I needed to change the oil. I thought maybe the dealer forgot to reset it but when I tried the "key on and pump accelerator three times" thing it still comes on. Any ideas?? It's aggravating!

Thanks,

Bob

Try resetting again. Sometimes I have to try a couple of times to make the reset work.

Same here. Took about 3-4 tries before it reset.

OK, so let me see if I've got this right - turn the key on so the intake heater comes on and immediately pump the accelerator three times, right? I've tried it like six times already... guess I'll keep trying...

Thanks,

Bob

From the owners manual

OIL CHANGE REQUIRED — If Equipped
Your vehicle is equipped with an engine oil change
indicator system. The “Oil Change Required” message
will flash in the EVIC display for approximately 10
seconds after a single chime has sounded to indicate the
next scheduled oil change interval. The engine oil change
indicator system is duty cycle based, which means the
engine oil change interval may fluctuate, dependent
upon your personal driving style.
Unless reset, this message will continue to display each
time you turn the ignition switch to the ON/RUN
position. To turn off the message temporarily, press and
release the Menu button. To reset the oil change indicator
system (after performing the scheduled maintenance) use
the following procedure.
1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (Do not
start the engine).
2. Fully depress the accelerator pedal slowly three times
within 10 seconds.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF/LOCK position.
NOTE: If the indicator message illuminates when you
start the vehicle, the oil change indicator system did not
reset. If necessary, repeat this procedure.

I had this problem...kept resetting and it would chime back on when I turned the key back to "On" (not starting the engine). It wasn't until I did the same procedure and then started the engine, shut it down again, that the message no longer appeared. I believe it has to do with starting the engine...which seemed to be my fix. Or, maybe it was just me. Good luck

Finally got it. I think I was pumping the accelerator too fast. Turned key to "On", pumped pedal slowly three times, turned key to "Off", waited 30 seconds, started truck, and voila! No more Oil Change Due message.

Thanks to all for their help,

Bob
