I prefer to row the boat. I almost ended up with an automatic, I ordered mine and told the dealer that I wanted the 6-speed. Didn't realize at the time that the auto was now a 6-speed as well. Caught the mistake before it was too late.

I want to go and test drive one, my dad had an 11 with the auto and the truck was awesome and rode great, I want to try a manual and see. I may look to get one later in the year.

I am thinking about an auto to but cant seem to make up my mind. I have a 10 3500 dually manual, great truck but I dont need the dually any longer because I got ride of the slide in camper I used it for. I will be pulling a 10k fiver with a boat now though. Drove a 12 auto today and it sure is nice, but I have never owned an auto in my life and not sure I should start now. I thought the mileage was pretty crappy to, only averaged 13mpg very short test drive but my dually gets 15.5 in the same 15 mile stretch of HWY. and I'm not betting it will increase much as my dually has not gotten any better since the day i bought it. I also dont plan on the deletes until my warranty would be up and maybe then. Maybe i should just keep what I have tell me what ya think. what are some pros and cons

I am not at all saying that auto trannys are bad, but in my experience 100% of mine failed. Keep your manual and do the deletes.

Only thing that ticks me off on the auto on my dodge is it wont hold 6th gear, you would atleast think the truck could slow down before downshifting. tow/haul manual mode it doesn't matter.
Now the auto in the super duties with the 6.7 now that is a kick *** transmission!! It shifts when you hit the button and it holds it gear
