How often do you change oil

I recently bought a used 2017 with 1900 miles, it was fully serviced at the dealership prior to purchase. This 2017 is my 5th Dodge truck, 1979, 1988, 1992 w/ Cummins, 2001 w/Cummins.

All my other trucks I changed the oil at 5000 miles with filter. This truck at 9000 miles says my filters are approx. 50% That seems like a lot of miles between changes, should I hold off to 10,000 and change oil, oil filter and the fuel filters?

Thanks

Service interval per the manual is 6 months 15k miles. The oil life % is a algorithm based program, nothing more. Meaning it’s a guess.

The 6 month deal is an absolute joke, I have no idea why it’s there.
So the manual says 15k miles, I thought it also mentioned hours as well. I personally pay no attention to the % and change mine at 10k miles. That’s just me, 15 seems too long and 6 months is laughable.

Make sure you are keeping up with both your fuel filter changes as well.

I change oil and rotate tires every time my dash reminder pops up, which is 8000 miles. 206k on it and zero issues. I did the same with my 99 and 04 by my own reminder at 8000. Again, never an issue with either of them. I always have used Dello I change my fuel filters every other oil change too.

I have always tried to keep my oil changes simple, every time the odometer reads something I can divide by 5000, I change it, Looks like we can go to 10,000- intervals.

What does it take to change the 2 fuel filters and what brand filters have you been using for engine & fuel?

Donaldson elf oil
Mopar or Fleetguard fuel filters

fuel filters are at 15k but I keep it simple as well and do it all at 10k intervals. They make a socket for the front so you don’t strip it and a wrench to take the WIF sensor off the rear, they aren’t expensive and make the job easier. You can use regular tools as well. Both are very easy to do, although the front cap always seems like Hercules put it on.

don't drive it much, im at 3 years and only 900 miles. prob will swap the oil this summer. Even my insurance company doesn't believe me i drive it that little- but at 12mpg i cant drive it to work, would cost more in fuel than what i make per day

How is it you only get 9 MPG?

I had a 2001 pulling my car trailer got 15+ and my new 2017 pulling the same trailer gets 18+

My trucks in the past I almost always used Frame oil & fuel filters and a few from Napa. For this truck I ordered Mopar filters from Rock Auto, all I can say is they are a bit pricy!.

I need to find someplace else for the next filter change

I changed my '15 and now my '18 every 8,000 miles. Just did it a couple days ago. The Message Center said s till had 40% life, but with a good chunk of my miles have a trailer hooked up...
Fuel filters are every other oil change.
