Front Differential Question

This weekend I installed the MagHytec Rear Diff Cover with sight glass and added new fluid. My questions is on the Front Diff. The fluid change is required every 30K miles. I'm assuming the front diff does not even rotate unless the 4WD is engaged? If that is the case, why change the fluid every 30K miles in the Front Diff?

Any advice?

It does rotate. Is there any part of your front end Physically hitting your New diff cover? On my 2010 it hit in 2 spots. Looking at the diff cover, top right and middle left side.

No, the brand new cover that Mag Hytec engineered fixed the rubbing problem. Plus, with my modded factory suspension it clears without any issues.

I actually had both generations with front end 1 inch lift. They both fit horrible. Now have AFE and it hits as well, not as bad though. 1 Litre less capacity than the Mag. Cant win LOL

As mentioned, it does rotate, now the question about it needing to be changed every 30k can really only be answered by sending a sample to a reputable lab such as Black Stone or Oil Analyzers, Inc. I don't trust oem oil so I changed both front/rear gear oil around 15k miles when I installed the Mag-Hytec cover on the rear.

I would definitely do it the first time at 30k, as the factory oil gets really bad as things wear-in. After that, it depends...if you're going off-road in the mud/water/deep snow or launching boats I'd sure change it often. Otherwise you might could get away with every 45k-60k.

Well, I'm about the least off road guy on the planet. My truck might have been in 2" of water and thats about it. Although I do some pretty mean burn-outs from time to time. My truck currently has 23K miles on it and I am already on my 4th set of tires. It is amazing what this thing will do to some rubber.

As far as pics, as soon as it stops raining here in NC I'll post some for you.
