The Cummins spec is # CES 20081.

Thanks for this. I just put this product into my 97 Ram 5.9L for the winter months. Seems to me that this product can be used year round as well and should also be good for my recently purchased 2012 Ram 6.7L.

When I change the oil in my old 12valve '97, I let it sit for an hour or so, and it will siphon about half of the oil in the filter back into the engine. Makes tipping the filter a little to take it out a non-issue. Have a '14 on order, haven't got it yet, wondering if it will do the same thing?

You are quite right, on both my '97 and '98 12V I usually wait anywhere between 20 minutes to an hour, mostly to allow the filter to cool (I drop oil out after a trip or other times when the engine is hot) so that I can handle it. With this kind of wait, I've never spilled oil out of the filter while tilting it to get it out of the engine compartment. I replace the filter after adding a quart of oil to it which leaves about an inch of space and allows for tilting to get it back inside and installed. This kind of procedure should work well for everyone with this 5.9L12Valve engine.

On the newer trucks the filter comes out the bottom and watch the wires going to the compressor, first oil and filter on my sons truck he took it in and they ripped the wires out. I use a clear plastic bag and some kitchen towel inside around the filter to pull up the filter after loosening then spin the filter off and let it drop into the bag, a clean getaway.
