declass GVWR

declass GVWR

so, im 'm looking @ this '95 ford diesel flatbed w/ a GVWR of 35000. thus requiring cdl. I do not have.. wanting to how to go about getting DE-CERTIFIED down to 26000 so I can use it to move from southern Oregon into n. Idaho. which means im moving over routes of 3 states WITH WEIGHTSTATIONS. . IM IN THE GRANTS PASS AREA. would appreciate any advise.

Doesn't it have air brakes? If so, you have to have a CDL. I don't believe what you are asking to do is possible on a truck, only a trailer.

Use Federal Title 49 CFR567.7 and put a modified GVWR on it. The law doesn't state it has to increase, just that it's modified.

Or just register or license it at a lower weight. Check with DMV and they can give you the in and outs. I have a friend who is a plumber and tows a backhoe on a gooseneck trailer and he has to have one. Put farm tags on his 3500 and now he only does farm work LOL no CDL
