Need a Trailer in SoCal
Need a Trailer in SoCal
Well all, I am still deployed to Iraq right now, but it won't be long before my wife and I will be loading up and moving back to the east coast. We are looking at buying a trailer for the simple fact that U-Hauls are VERY under-maintained in comparison with how often that they are used...dollies tow like junk, make all sorts of racket, don't have brakes, etc and I don't care at all for their transports either with their crummy operating surge brakes, etc.
Though her car only weighs about 3500lbs, I would like to get a trailer rated higher than the 7000lb rated trailers usually used for just cars so that when we get back east, we will be able to use it for multiple different things, to include our approx. 7000lb backhoe. So I guess that we would be looking more at the 10-14K rated trailers...somewhere around 18-20' long, dual axle, preferably brakes on both axles, preferably a dovetail to help in loading her low clearance car, ramps, 2 5/16" ball receiver for that heavier rating, 7 pin harness, etc...oh, I would prefer a wooden deck also, so that if and when the deck starts going back, all that would have to be done to the trailer would be to sand it down to bare metal, re-primer and paint it and put down a new treated deck...
Anybody know any good dealers in the southern california, central california, or southwestern areas of arizona that we can do some shopping at that don't rip your rear end? Sorry for the long post...
Oh yeah, last thing...I know that in california you can't register your VEHICLES in another state when you buy them off a california lot, does the same crap law apply to their trailers?

first of all welcome home!!!!.... i know of two trailer dealers that might have what you're looking for. i've never done business with them but have driven by them several times. go north on highway 14 towards palmdale. there is one dealer at the top of the antelope grade on the left side of the highway and there is also carson trailer i believe is the name, they are off highway 14 at exit "I" right next to the freeway.
well if you're not home yet, get home soon. if you are home, then welcome home... thank you for what you're doing over there, from my family to you...

I know it's not So-Cal, but the next trailer I buy will be from MP Trailers in Redding. Outstanding service and quality. Even if you don't plan on buying from them, call and pick Aaron's brain to get a better idea of what you need. (800) 916-4677
We would be needing it early May time-frame though...I know that early May is a rough sounding estimate, but we don't really have precise planning on transfers out of Iraq when we're 13000 miles away and getting a flight home has to be on the Navy's dime...I will definitely be keeping you in mind though...man, that is NICE trailer.
Call Trailer Mart in Bakersfield. Or Redlands and Fontana have alot of trailers. Get a truck trader or RV trader they might help you out.
I don't know where you're headed back east but a friend of mine just had his jeep hauled from Los Angeles to Ohio for $900.00. If that helps.
