Air Filter
Towing our fiver (about 14k) from southeastern AZ to southern NM today. Winds we're pretty stiff so towed mostly in fifth gear at 60-65 mph. Had changed air filter about 5k ago but on one particularly long grade I got the message in the EVIC to service the air filter. Had never seen that message before. Kept going without any problems to our destination. Got set up and shut down truck. After a couple of hours started the truck to move it more into the campsite and the message is gone. Should I go ahead and change the filter again, or was this some anomaly caused by trying to suck in too much air too fast?
Thanks,
Bob

I've never had that message before I use a Wix filter that fits the factory air box, however I do know that the filter can become plugged pretty easy by driving through certain conditions. On my last truck I drove through a swarm of bees while towing, they found their way into the pin box on the 5ver and also plugged up the engine air filter pretty good. I would take out the filter and inspect it by holding it up to the light, if it looks ok continue use but have a spare handy just in case.

Thanks! It was very windy and there were dust storm warnings but didn't run through any thick dust, or any that you could see, anyway. I'll look at it and will get another as you suggested. If the one in it is OK I'll have a spare. I always carry a spare fuel filter - don't know why I never thought about an air filter...
Thanks again,
