6.7l fuel question and Exhaust

Still got the ol 5.9 and i am thinking about getting a new truck and i was wondering about the fuel that can be ran in the newer engines. You guys ever mess around with the older fuels being high surfer or what not. Can the newer red fuel be ran in them or not? just any answers would help out. Also what about messing around with the exhaust systems on the newer trucks. I guess there is no taking the cat off and straight piping the newer trucks is there?

The EPA is pushing red fuel to be ULSD by 2014 or 2015, and with dip tests becoming common place for some of us it becomes more of a hassle than a benefit to even think about running "old red".

I'll just keep adding TCW3 two stroke, FPPF, and Power Service when I need to.

You do know that red fuel is for off-road use only right? You will pay a huge fine if you get caught on the road with it in your tank. I would highly suggest only running ULSD in a new truck. The newer trucks aren't designed to run the high sulfur fuels. The emissions on the newer trucks is federally mandated by EPA. You can also face huge fines if you get caught without the emissions. If you don't plan on running the truck on the road it wouldn't be an issue but I doubt that is the case.

as for as red diesel i am staying away from it. to much of a liability. but the emissions bs will be off of my truck shortly. I just don't find it logical to sacrifice 8 MPG just to prevent a little smoke. Just my opinion.

i know its not for road use. I have a farm and i didnt know if putting the high surfer fuel in the newer trucks would hurt the motor or not. Some times i will put alittle in the truck when i am working on the land around my farm. I fuel up with ULSD when i am on state roads or taking trips. Just wanted to know if the fuel would hurt the newer cummins. Thats all

I think it remains a good question. If someone was out in the boondocks and needed fuel and red was all that was available (a situation where the "law" and risk no longer are important), would it hurt the engine? I think the answer is that the DPF might not like it but an occassional usage of red or regular low sulphur diesel would do no harm. Is that true? Ed

I wouldnt see a problem running LSD in an 07+ engine in an emergency situation. I wouldnt recommend doing it on an everyday basis. LSD can damage the emissions equipment and that stuff aint cheap. Its also illegal to run LSD in an 07+ engine. If you remove the EGR/DPF/NOX you can fuel it like a 5.9.

One tank of LSD will not hurt the catalyst. Repeated running will.

Even the Ruby Red is mostly ULSD nowadays.

Once everything is deleted, run it till your little heart is content or your DOT officers is chasing ya.

will these trucks run if you remove the EPA emission things? or will it through codes and not run correct? I guess what i am asking is all the emissions just on the exhaust or is there things you need to remove from the motor itself? I guess the big question is could the new motors be straight piped from the turbo back and still run right??
