2010 6 speed manual
I have noticed that some 2010 6 speed manual trucks have 1st gear labeled as L and some have 1st gear labeled as 1 on the shifter and was wondering if they have different gear ratios in the transmission or what. Thanks

Does anyone have any insight on this. Im wondering if maybe the 3.42 geared trucks have a lower first gear ratio than the 3.73 geared trucks. I would like to have a lower first gear for taking off with heavy loads.

I am pretty sure the trucks with the L gear have a lower gear than ones with the 1. Like on the semi trucks I have driven, when there is an L gear, it's usually so low that you can almost take off in 2nd if unloaded. It's usually more for taking off uphill while towing or something.
I'm not sure though, maybe it is just a difference in labeling.

I doubt there is anything different. Dodge has not released any data on a AF ratio G-56.
Personally I don't like how Ford does L-1-2-3-4-OD
Just talked to a friend with a '10, 3.42's, and a G56. His says L

4.10's make that possible. Thou thats still pretty crazy, your slipping your clutch for the first 12 mph, as idle rpms with 4.10's in 4th is 12mph.. The engine will fuel on its own, which is why you don't need throttle.

the L is for the lower first ("granny") gear that was added when dodge switched from 5 speed to 6 speed manual transmissions. when dodge went to six speeds, they added the sixth gear to the bottom of the gears to aid in getting the truck moving with a heavy load. ford and chevy did the same thing when they switched to 6 speeds as well. the shifter on my 07 2500 read L-2-3-4-5-6.

My 05 says 1-6, My dads 06 says 1-6. I haven't seen a pre-10 shifter with a "L".. but if you have pics that would be cool.
