2013 5500 m.p.g.
My truck is completely different than most, but it weighs in a 9910, has 4.88 gears, and I am running 35.5" all tires so my speedo is off around 5-7 mph depending on speed. I have only done one 100 mile trip empty and I was 11.9 mpg. there were some hills but close enough. Towing varies. So if you do the math I am in the 12's if my speedo was correct.

Sure, getting 15 empty at speed with a tail wind may do it, but there is no way in hell it will get 15 mpg with a trailer with tail wind. maybe down hill.
From all the reading I have read on here and my personal experience, not going to happen. Hell my 3500 never got 15 towing 10k.

Best milage I ever got with my '01 5.9 towing a 12k pound gooseneck trailer was 18.5 mpg... of course, I started out just on the east side of the Continetal Divide high above Denver and the next refuel took place somewhere on the plains in Kansas.
I saw 16 MPG once with my '93 CTD pulling 10,000 lbs. Flat land, and short trailer so not much wind drag. The same truck will get 22 on the highway empty on flat land. It's a 2WD 1st gen. These early trucks were much lighter so that helps too.
My '99 24 valve does pretty good but it's 4WD with 4.10's so high teens is all I see.
Third gen trucks were pretty good. Again, not as good as first gens but generally high teens when empty on flat land.
Ok, so I have two 4th gens. My wife has a '07 with the 6.7, 4WD, and auto. It was stock before some parts fell off. About 17 MPG on freeway stock. Picked up about 1.5 MPG when things feel off. Towing a 12,000 horse trailer on the flats we see 11 MPG at 65 MPH. Pulling the giant 16,000 lb toy hauler it's more like 9.5 to 10 MPG. That trailer catches a lot of wind so wind speed can be a significant factor,
I think my numbers are pretty typical "real" numbers. Anyone can post some great numbers under the right conditions. Going downhill with a tailwind helps. I'm not saying anyone is lying as the on board computer tends to show better economy than hand calculated numbers.
