Wheel simulators ?
I just picked up a low mileage Ram 4500. So far I'm pretty impressed but every time I look at the truck it seems unfinished. I think the steel wheels are just too plain. I don't really want to spend big money on new wheels. Has anyone put a set of simulators on their truck?
Thanks

you mean the stock plastic chromed "hud caps and rings?
Yep, been on there since it was new and they're pretty nice. Makes rotating the tires and wheels on a dually easy.
BUT... you got to put them on WITHOUT using any kind of hammer. The body shop did exactly that and when I popped them off the front to do some brake maintenance, all the plastic clips were broke off and the thing fell apart in my hands!
I went back to the body shop and showed them the error of their ways and volunteered to show them the proper method of installing if they bought me some new ones. They agreed and I did. For the front rings...
You spray WD-40 around the wheel, wipe it off good with a rag and using your knees at the lower 4 and 8 oclock positions, carefully, and I MEAN CAREFULLY, position the ring equally on all sides and tap and press with your hands until it slips into the wheel rim. If you "c.ock it to the side at all' at all and continue to hammer it home, the clips will be broke and the next time you take them off, guess what... plastic pieces and p.EEE.d off. ...and yes, you can super-glue them back in place and hay-wire it together but next time, they're broke off again. So... the back ones are easy, but again... NO hammer. Just the edge of your hand and gentle is the word. I have 187K miles on my rear ones and about 2500 on my new front ones. LoL
