Thanks for the link.
I really need to do something as I put 8k miles on my trailer and getting 2 or 3 MPG better milage could make a big difference on my travel budget.

I would be interested say 3-4 years down the road in a 11 dodge 1.5 or 2 ton flat bed, I'd just want to pull the DPF and EGR off, I just hope that somebody figures a good clean way to remove the DEF as well. I also am half-way hesitant as the fine for tampering with a commercial vehicle's DPF, etc is up to $10k I have heard.

As for fuel mileage I average 15.5 MPG with the truck always empty, I got better numbers in fall but with winter fuel now mileage has dropped a bit.
I track the mileage on here.

It's in L/100km
No doubt Chrysler designed the urea tank to carry enough urea to last service to service because they are counting on many owners being dumb enough to let the dealership refill the tank . Has anybody compared prices of urea at dealerships compared to what is charged elsewhere ? What's the labor charge for checking the urea level and refilling the tank ?

I don't know of any wany to remove the system, however I have been to several classes on diesel emissions and the new urea systems. Have had several drivers tell me you can put water in the tank and the system can't tell the difference. Of course, only do that if you are stuck in an area that does not sell the urea. I know of someone who rented a new cummins pickup, and purposefully drove it till the DEF tank was empty, then refilled it with water, just to see if it would work. Truck started right back and ran normally.

I have had my 5500 for three weeks now. 1550 miles def at 60% filled fuel four times average 7.8 +/-mpg worst of 4.6 lots of idleing and plowing best of 8.5 all highway. All miles are working miles. Coming from trading two tuned ford 6.0's the cummins needs some serious help has power but not as much as it needs. Shifting of transmission needs work. Hope H&S has something great coming for the c/c.

I have had 4 new cummins powered Rams and each one of them pulled like crap the first 10,000 miles (All Pulling) Even if they are chipped they wont pull that hard until the motor breakes in.

I have a Work and Play with the rectangular flat front not the most aerodynamic trailer around, a wing on the truck or a rounder front cab on the trailer would improve the MPG.

Nice truck Yeti!!

Brand new 2011 4500 c.c. pulling 13000lb gvw trailer, at 3000 miles it is down to 18% def. That's about twice as fast as "they" say it should get...

In case this happens when I'm up north hundreds of kilometres from the next DEF source and need the truck towed or DEF delivered could somebody tell me whom I send the bill to.
Lisa Jackson at the EPA perhaps?

Maybe its just a north of the border thing, but heck you can now find DEF at WalMart! Along with just about every parts store and truck stop. I get mine at Loves in bulk for $2.59 per gallon. Costs me less than $20 to fill up. The "finding DEF" excuse doesnt work very well anymore down here.

Not to mention, you've got 500 miles until it wont RESTART again. It wont shut down on you. You can keep going to make it to wherever you can find DEF.
