OK, Upgrade time.
I need help choosing.
4500 has a few more bells and whisles then the 5500.
I want the 5500, but not the 4.88 gears.

Drove the neighbors 5500 4wd single cab the other day, that thing is a real truck, He uses to haul boats all over the west and with trailer rides pretty good, but empty, holy cow!! talk about rough, not sure I could tolertate that day in day out. If I was looking for makin a livin hauling or needing a real work truck that is the way to go. Wondering if the quad cabs ride any better.

Yep, a 4500 would do just fine. But for $400, I could have a 5500.
Just trying to be more versatile. I carry a lot of loads that are 8000# or less and 10 -12 feet long. Don't need a 40ft, 10,000# GN for that. All my loads are local stuff, no back hauls. Just load up and get there.

I had a choice of 09 4500 SLT QC 4WD 84" C-A, but for about $1800 I could get 09 5500 Laramie QC 2wd 84" C-A, I went 5500. I run somewhat heavy on a 3500 and was wearing it out, so I figured get more and not need it than to not get it and need it. With some weight in it it rides nice...just got it back from the outfitter on Friday night. I still don't have everything in it yet.

To make things worse, I just received an email of a window sticker. Other then being a 4X4 and with leather seats, this 2008 5500 has ever thing. Don't have a price for it yet, but I'm sure it'll be to high for me.

How's your fuel mileage with those 4.88. My 6.7, 3500, 3.73, will get about 18 at 65 mph. With the trailer, it's about 13-14, if I stay below 65.

By the way, Thats a nice ride.

The double OD is standard with the 6 spd autos..

Hit the tow haul button once and it locks up the TC and locks you out of 6th, hit it again and it locks you out of 5th..

Oh
Well, I think I'm going to a 3500CC. The only reason I was looking at the 4500 or 5500, was so I could get the longer bed. I found a place that will stretch the frame on a 3500.
Running up and down the highway, I need all the fuel mileage I can get. From the price on the sticker, the auto in the 3500 is $1200.00 and it's $2300.00 in the 4500. Must not be the SAME tranny huh.

That's what I thought too. The salesman seem to think it's the same though. Well, I solved the whole problem. I bought a 3500 C&C with the G56.
