Question XRF Lower

Can XRF lower ball joints be replaced with another brand that are NOT splined?Or am I and all using them stuck using them because of possible enlargement of the steering knuckle caused by splines?I need to Most likely replace my lower XRF's after 17,000 mi because they are squeaking.Help please.Thanks.

I honestly doubt that the knurls, or "splines", would be hard enough to gouge the knuckle bore out. As thin as they are they should just deform inside the bore and cause a tighter fit.

Upon more inspection I THINK it may be the uppers making noise not the lowers, but not 100% sure.Sucks either way.Unacceptable to have to replace them after only 17,000mi.

That's kind of what I was thinking.Just would hate to buy another brand and have them not fit because knuckle has been enlarged.
