Why would I need it ??
The other day I got an offer iin the mail to buy an extented warrenty from Hamilton bank. Being that I have a 2003, 3500, 4x4, 4 dr, SRW why would I spend $2500 - $3000 for a warrenty of 6 years/100,000 miles?? Isnt my DODGE warrenty good for 7 years/100,000 miles. ?? I currently have 19K on the truck and don't see what the extended warrenty is going to do for me.
Due to problems I had with DC over my truck, they gave me an extended 7/70000 extended warranty. Of course, the extended warranty ran concurrent with the normal DC warranty. I carefully compared the two warranties and concluded that the extended warranty provided very little additional protection. It was a good deal for me only because it was free. I would not recommend it under normal circumstances. In your case, you would want to carefully consider the "extra coverage" such a policy would provide and decide for yourself if it is worth the cost.
I would NOT waste my money on an extended warranty from a second party company. They may cover a lot however yo have to hassel with the 1-800 OH YEAH that's NOT covered or I'm sorry but they are out of business or you have pay for it first and then MAYBE they might reimburse you.
I do have an extended warranty but thru DC, that way if it's broke or breaks down all I have to do is have any DC shop pick it up and get it fixed. This works great when you area on the road
The key with the normal warranty with the truck is that it is only good for 3/36 and the power train is good for 7/100

JAXFL1, the Dodge warranty is 7 yr / 100,000 miles on the engine & drive train only. This is not the Bumper to Bumper 3yr / 36K mile warrany.
The aftermarket warranty would basically be a complete bumper to bumper warranty for 6/100,000 miles and cover those things not covered under the drive train warranty. I wouldn't think that much could happen in that remaining 20% that could justify $2500-3000.
I would venture to guess that 80% of all warrany claims are in the engine/transmission area. The Cummins warranty will take care of all that. Now if this were a Hemi, then you might reconsider it. When I was looking to buy my truck, the $5000+ add on to the price for the CTD was a bit much to take. However, I looked at it as basically getting a stronger engine, with an extended warranty built in.

Reminds me of the warranty issues I had with my wife's old Jeep Cherokee. I had a transmission leak coming from the speedo plug in the transmission. I had an extended warranty which covered electronics and I had the 7/70 powertrain warranty in effect as well. I felt pretty confident that DC was going to pick up the tab on this one.
When I got the call from the Dealership later that day, they informed me it would be a $130 repair. I argued that it should be covered under one or the other warranties. No go. He told me the plug was covered, and the tranny was covered, but the little rubber piece between the two was not covered and of course, that was what needed replacing.
Needless to say, I told him not to touch the car, even to back it out of the bay. I picked it up in a half hour and took it to the next dealership who fixed it while I was waiting.

Thanks again guys. The vote so far is 7 "NO" & 0 "yes". If all of you are saying NO. How do these companies stay in business? I like what CaughtinmyGrill said about the little small part that stopped the show and that part was not covered. That would be my luck. A $10,000 repair and a part that costs $.05 cents and the labor would be the rest and not covered because I failed to wash the truck every weekend.
