Why can't I put fuel in?

So I just got home from a trip to St. Louis and my truck was being a PITA. After running at highway speed for several hours I stopped to add fuel and it would not let fuel past the filler neck, it would foam up and spit air and fuel out... one time almost 3 feet in the air then just gurgle. Other than that it ran perfectly and if it sits still overnight it will take fuel 2 or 3 times then it acts up again. Any thoughts?

Check the rubber hose from the filler to the tank? Sounds like its kinked or the small hose that lets the air out is and air is getting trapped in.

Yup. A piece of road debris may have damaged the vent line. My brother in law is having the same exact issue with his 1500 Ram due to a kink in the vent line.

You have to let the same amount of air out that you put fuel in

You can do a fuel tank vent mod that will solve your problem.
Heres the link to the mod.

Thanks for the suggestions, as soon as it warms up a little I'll crawl under it and take a look.

On my boat a mud wasp had plugged the vent exit...look for wasps/spders at the end of the vent!
