what are you guys paying for new trucks?

My company is buying a new truck this week for me to drive. It must be 4x4 , diesel, automatic, 3/4 or 1 ton, long bed.

We are looking for on plain as possible(manual windows, basic seat, etc)

We are going to get either a quad cab or a reg cab have not decided which yet.

We currently have fords and dodges and both work good for us so the deciding factor is going to be price. Right now my local dealers have qouted me 28500 on a ford ext cab and 35500 on the dodge quad cab. I really want the dodge but I can't get my boss to pay an extra 7k. Is my dodge dealer high on his prices or do the dodges really cost that much more?

I wouldnt ever pay that much for an ST truck, that was stripped, with the exception of an auto. I paid 33.5k for my quad cab long bed 4x4 SLT with the 6 spd, out the door. Its got lots of options, but not quite as many as the laramie.

Three weeks ago we bought a new 04.5, SLT, quad, 6 sp, long bed, 4X4 for 30,550 including all dealer fees. Don't know how that stacks up, but a full 5 grand less than the stripper your dealer quoted.

I paid less than $26 for a QC 4x4 SB ST with a 5 spd, but it was a loss leader. It was hard to find a bare bones model, which is what I wanted, as most dealers had either a LB in the ST or SBs in the SLTs, most being automatics.

Talk to the fleet sales manager. They should be able to put you in a truck for a competitive price. The prices quoted by those above are about right and if you can't get close to them, go elsewhere. Most of the deal can be done on the phone.

I've seen ST 4X4s advertise around $28k.

I paid $33k for mine. This was an advertised special. It had everything I wanted plus some. I bought in 3/04 and it was a 555 so I think that is why it was the one on sale. Everyone wanted the new 600!

bdog, dealers may come down more on 04.5s now that he 05s are out.

Not an employee purchase. I bought it from Christopher's dodge world in denver CO (Salesman: Brad Johnson, great guy to work with). They run newspaper/internet "lost leader" sales to get folks in the door. They claim they loose money on them (not sure I buy that), but if it is on the lot when you show up, it's first come first serve. I think they run a diffrent truck every week.

As many have allready stated, that price is ridiculous, I paid $29,990 (less registration fees and tax, so with all that, the total was around $32,000) for my 04.5 QC 4x4 SLT, it was a promotional thing at Lithia Dodge of Cherry Creek in Aurora/Denver, Co.
