what are you guys paying for new trucks?
I talked to my local dealer and told him about the other prices and he got down to $32500 for a 2004 ST quad cab 4x4 diesel auto. Should I take it or can I find a better deal elsewhere? I mean +/- $500 I am better off getting this as it is local but if I can get one much lower it would be a good deal.

I got my 2004.5 SLT quad cab long bed Cummins 600/6-speed 3.73 limited slip black with black interior, power seats, AM/FM/CD for just over $30k factoring in the $2500 model year end discount at the time (I don't know if that's increased now or what). I then had the dealer put in a few extra accessories before picking it up which brought the total to $31k.
I don't know where you are located, but my local Dodge dealer has $3000 rebate OR 0% interest on the CTD's. I bought my pretty much loaded 2500 SLT for $28,000 + tax, title, etc...
I think you need to find a different dealer, heck, try ebay.

I got my fully loaded SLT 4x4 2500 for $34,365 (included nerf bars/bedliner/ door guards/tint and bug shield). In addition, they were very generous on my trade in and I just paid my taxes&tags. This also included free oil changes for the life of my vehicle.
Sort of off the subject sorry.......
I've been searching the local inventories in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and I have yet to find a '05 6-speed, what's up with that? Aret they not building any 6-speeds yet or are they that hard to find?

Strike that, I just realized that they are '04. You do know that on the '05, Dodge switched 6 speed transmissions from the reliable NV5600 to a Getrag (German) model. This is the first year for the new transmission, which may be the reason you are having such a hard time finding in, as they may not be fullly out yet. If it were me, I would buy an 04 and get the NV5600 that has served everyone so well.

Try finding an 04.5 instead of an 05. You can get a lot of model year end discounts on them and they're basically the same truck, plus you get the NV5600 which is a fabulous transmission. I hate Getrags and have never had anything but bad experiences with them. Granted, I've never dealt with them in a truck application, but I've had enough bad experiences to not want to deal with them anymore.
I had very good luck with Bankston Dodge of Irving (where I bought my truck). Very friendly, very motivated to sell, made me a great deal. If you want I'll give you the name of the guy I dealt with there.

I am going to purchase a new CTD and have some questions.
I can get the employee discount from a family member and have been talking to several dealers. Some of the prices quoted here seem to be lower than the employee discount. On the invoice there are several numbers, MSRP, FFP, EP and so on. Apparently the EP is the employee price then you deduct rebates. How does the prices that some of you have paid compare to the EP printed on the invoice?

I just finished negotiating the deal and am flying to Denver tomorrow to get the truck. I am getting a 2004.5 SL 4x4 quad cab cummins auto for $29,699. There are paperwork fees and temprary tag fees so my total out the door cost was 30,117.50. I will have to pay TTL back in Texas when I get home.
Thaks a lot for the advice and I will let everyone know how she drives after I make the 10 hour trip back home.

bdog surprised you found a better deal in Denver than in Texas, or did it just so happen that they had the precise truck you wanted? Also surprised that they didn't have the truck you wanted in Texas.
Of course, I bought my truck in Texas... most expensive visit to my girlfriend I've ever had!
Dynocon, I don't see any prices on my sticker besides MSRP. My MSRP sticker was $36,145 ($35,645 if you include the regional discount for Dallas, TX), and I paid just over $30k with discounts. You should find out more details about how the Employee Price compares to the MSRP and what you can still use/not use in terms of other discounts.

I called about 10 dealers in Texas from Houston to Austin to Dallas to Amarillo and the closest ay of them got was $32,300 for the exact same truck I gave $30,117 for. For $2200 it is worth the drive.
To tell you the truth I was really surprised myself that no dealer in TX could match it. I spent several hours at the local dealer and he told me that it would cost him more to get the truck then what I was paying so he could not match it otherwise he would. The Denver dealer had 3 of them on his lot which I guess helps them but as plain of a truck as I am getting you would think there would have been one in Texas.
