The 12V's can and will run on a variety of fuels....for an 03 you will not want to run anything but #2 diesel (or #2 & #1 winter mix).....

just read the agriculture section of cummins.com and the 5.9 will run on kerosene and lighter fuels due to new bosch pump. I think this is the same pump in the 3rd gen but not sure.

I'm sure its in other parts of the web site but specifically the south pacific region agriculture b5.9 section

Bosch In-Line Fuel Pump: New in-line pump delivers fuel to the cylinders at higher injection pressures for cleaner combustion and lower emissions. This extremely durable design also gives Cummins B Series owners the option of using Jet-A, kerosene or lighter fuels

Re:what kinds of fuel will the 3rd gen motor run on.

sorry for the confusion i'm not very good with computers. it's the world wide site cummins inc homepage.

I found it by going to google and just typing in cummins. cummins.com/-42k then pops us it is the world wide site.
then choose the south pacific region.
then coose products.
then choose agriculture.
then choose b5.9

that should get you there.

Compare it to the US page its not the same......do you live in the South Pacific???....maybe a different pump for different parts of the world....where having an engine run can be a matter of life or death.

no washington state but i know how emissions affects the way business operates and will not let a person know the truth.

they are both high pressure pumps?

after re-reading them you may be right but still hoping for further info.

Re:what kinds of fuel will the 3rd gen motor run on.

I would bet in a pinch that the cummins would run on any of the abovementioned fuels. How well it would run or other consequences I dont know. I would recommend sticking to #2 or biodiesel, but in the case of winter blended fuels (#1 and #2) I wouldn't worry a bit. #1 and Kerosene are very similar and the truck would run on both IMO....these fuels just have very low lubricity value, so be sure to add lubricity when running on them. They sure LOVE biodiesel!

Re:what kinds of fuel will the 3rd gen motor run on.

What additive will provide the lubricity if running say kerosene or jet fuel?

Thanx for the feed back

Stanadyne Lubricity Formula would be a good choice.

I agree standayne lubricity formula, or even better, 5-10% biodiesel will do the trick.
