I burned a lot of used engine oil in my 2001 after letting sit for a couple weeks then straining it. I never poured the last quart out of the bottom of the bucket. Never added more than 2 gallons per tank.
In my '03 I got 40 gallons of pure mineral oil for free which I've been putting in 3-4 gallons at a time. Makes the exhaust smell different (less odor) and power seems to be improved.

Vaughn,
I've run a lot of waste oil in my '93 Cummins, my Mercedes 300SD, and my Isuzu NPR. Some people get a little excited around here when they hear about running waste oil but it works fine, as you know.
Once I ran out of fuel and poured in twelve or so quarts of engine oil and drove on. Ran perfect. I'm being more careful with the new HO.

I agree standayne lubricity formula, or even better, 5-10% biodiesel will do the trick.

so you're running biodiesel in the truck? It's working out well? I wish there was somewhere around here that sold it

Most likely it's within reasonable range. There is a public b20 pump in NC too, not quite sure where, but ask REDRAMNC, or check the thread called BIO in the general diesel area.
Plenty of 3rd genners are running bio, most are running B20 - or 20% bio. Some are running b50+ . I've run b10-b20 in the last 4 or 5 tanks and she loves it. Yes the cost is higher than regular #2 but the benefits and the fact you only mix a few gals in at a time far outweigh the difference. I personally love knowing that every gallon I burn is one more that we don't have to buy from the middle east, and instead that money is going to some american farmer. As a nice side benefit the fuel has higher cetane, way higher lubricity, and reduces emissions.

I am new to Diesel's. What is BioDiesel fuel?

www.biodiesel.org
www.biodieselnow.com
Basically it's a renewable fuel made from vegetable oils, that reduces emissions and foreign oil dependence, while boasting improved cetane, lubricity, and supporting american farmers. Gotta love it.

Re:what kinds of fuel will the 3rd gen motor run on.
An aviation company who owns a 2001 ram 2500 has always burned jet fuel sence it was new. Has 65,000 miles on it no trouble. Most miles are from driving around the airport.
Re:what kinds of fuel will the 3rd gen motor run on.
I sooooo want to run biodiesel in my truck. The closest location is 220 miles away
I don't have time or dedication to make my own either. When warmer weather returns I may just run filtered waste veggie oil through instead.

Guys, do either of one have any concerns with synthetic oil that might be mixed in with the waste oil? I have no idea how that would burn ???
