Help with service dept. info
I am just a little curious as to what the dealers actually see when they look in there database. I am just curious because when I went into the dealer to schedule getting a couple of the flashes done he had a hard time figuring out what I was refering to. I quoted the T.S.B. # as well as dates issued and symptom/compaint. He was only able to reference one thing that sounded similar, but do they not use the designations like 18-027-03 for lack of power while towing, put out july 4 '03, the service guy had no clue what I was talking about. I am just curious because I want to do the flashes for the gauges, fuel pump, and shift quality, but I don't want them to F-up my truck if they aren't sure what I'm talking about. It makes me nervous. Any help for dealer communication would be appreciated.

If they don't service alot of trucks then they won't know the flashes. Can you go to a truck dealer? They should be comfortable with it. There are some precautions they must take before flashing.

It's my dealer that I'm going to. They have the "5 star" sign and all, but they don't seem to know much about the software upgrades. I'm supposed to take it in, in the morning, but if they aren't sure what I am talking about, who knows what they will do to my rig. They sell a ton of trucks too, half the lot are Rams. Strange more people haven't gone in for the common ones. He said that he had never heard of that weighted power steering line for vibration either, but it has been mentioned numerous times here and on TDR. One excuse is that I am in Canada and we get the info later??? Any help please...

How about printing this out and bringing it in with you?

Thanks for the advise 12pack, I already had that list bookmarked so I just copied all the pages involved and took them in. The truck is still in one piece so I guess they either did nothing or did it right.

I said, "He (the service writer) said it would take ~ an hour, so I'll be back in an hour. Thank You."
