Dealers are a real trip
Dealers are a real trip
I got a call from the dealer I've been talking to about an hour ago. He says bla bla bla "have you made a decision". I say yes but I want to delete the fog lights and protection group cause I'm gona yank the factory bumpers and put on aftermarket ones. He says "you can't do that". Mind you, I've not ordered the truck or made an obligation in any way shape or form. So I say oh yea, whys that? He says cause the other day when we were building one for the price it got put in the system and I already have a VIN and will probobly have a build date tomorrow. So I say well I guess we have to have a meeting of the minds or your gona be stuck with a truck, whats the best you can do. He says he will call me right back. So I'm rolling on the floor in laughter while I'm waiting. Not to be cruel just sounds like the kind of thing that happens to me only I'd be in his shoes.

My question is, he made me a ?good? offer, 1.58% over invoice, do I keep looking for $100 over on a truck set up just how I want it or save him from his agonoy? I mean, I'm a pure capitalist, I believe a dealer should get paid, but isn't hold back and $100 fair? Its really broken my heart cause I have an x-plan # for a Ford..........but I'm gettin my first Dodge.

Re:Dealers are a real trip
Thats the kind of deal I'm looking for. How'd you get the dealer to kick in? This guy is putting the 1.6% on the "as built" total. Then I'd get the 2500 rebate, 2k dodge & 500 farm bureau. So out the door I'm under invoice but I'm just meaning truck cost prior to rebates since the rebate has no effect on dealer's bottom line.
Re:Dealers are a real trip
I would walk away from this guy. He is a liar and you can't trust him. No way he put the order into the system and will get a build date the next day, much less a VIN. Find someone who will be up front and honest with you. You don't need this sort of crap AFTER you buy the truck do you? Why accept it before?
Go with someone reputable. Just my two cents.

Re:Dealers are a real trip
I guess I wasn't clear in the original post. I worked it up with him about a week ago and (my confussion) he thought he may have a build date next week.

I hooked up with him today and he knocked it down to about $150 over invoice.....I just couldn't stand it any more., been jonesn for tooooo long......put down my deposit and signed the truck printout, as did he, exactly as built last week except it had MY vin on it. Walked out with a Dodge hat and even wore it as I drove home in my old tierd woreout beatup still got grit in it Ford, with a smile.

For a dealer and a yankee at that
I think he's straight up or maybe he just played me like a violin. Isithereyet!

I just ordered a 2003 3500 ho with the 48re auto, crew cab, srw, lb last week and I had searched all over for the best deal and found it 25 miles from where I live. The truck listed for $40,150 and they are selling it to me for $250 below invoice. They gave me a printout with side by side columns with the MSRP and Invoice and the invoice price is $35,931 minus the 250 off of invoice and with rebates it is $33,181. The salesman is Robby Huey Jr, at Durham Dodge in Kilgore, Texas, 903-981-9100. www.durhamcars.com

Re:Dealers are a real trip
I forgot to mention the rebates. They are $2,000 and the Farm Bureau rebate of $500. MSRP was $40,145.00 and Invoice was $35,931.00 less $250 under Invoice, $2,000 Dodge rebate and $500 Farm Bureau makes it $33,181.00
