Went looking for Tires today

So today I went to NTB, looking for some 285/75/17. The guy at NTB tells me that the 285/75 are going to rub and that he is going to have to tweek the torsion bars, even after I told him what kind of truck I had. I researched on this site about tires. So I was pretty set on the 285/75's. He also said to me he knows what he's talking about, he's been doing this for years. He is telling me I should go with the 285/70's or the 305/70's. Needless to say, but I just left. I wanna keep my truck stock, no leveling kit or anything just wanna better looking tire in there. What are some of your guys thoughts on this?

Tell him to find a new job and then find a new place to buy tires.

We have no torsion bars on our trucks and the 285/75's on my truck fit just fine even when flexed out.

Have a good one.

Thats the main reason I walked out. I don't argue with idiots. When he said torsion bars, I about fell on the deck laughing.

Take your business elsewhere! Toyo 285/75/17s fit perfect on my 04.5 with stock suspension.

Thumbs up

I just had a set of 295 Toyo M/T's put on before I left for work (in Alaska) and they filled out the wheel wells really nicely! Now, I might need a set of small flares and a set of mudflaps to keep all of the rock chips off of the paint.

285/75/17 Durra Grappler's on my truck and not one bit of rubbing through any range of movement with stock suspension.

And sadly, they probably do a brisk business.

I think that's the same guy that gave me a good deal on replacing my points and spark plugs.

My butt dyno proves the increase in performance!

See, that's the worst thing about these forums. Now I need to upgrade my truck again to Johnson rods and muffler bearings and I didn't even know I had a problem .
