Talking Well, guys, I finally took the plunge!

I just came back from the dealer, where I placed my order for a brand spankin' new 2005 Dodge 3500 4x4 long bed single rear wheel Laramie diesel 6 speed! My dream truck! I have you guys to thank for helping me make an informed decision. I debated EVERYTHING and have went back and forth on it all, 6 speed vs auto, long bed vs short, 2wd vs 4wd, 1 ton dually vs single rear wheel vs 3/4 ton, the list goes on and on and on. Reading all the posts here since June of last year and finally posting a little, has helped my pick my dream truck. The one and only unknown is this new G56 tranny. It has me a little antsy because I have done my homework on everything else, but there hasnt been much said about this because no one has had any experience yet. I am not obligated to buy this truck but it is marked sold with my name on it. So now the hard part comes - THE WAITING! This is the part thats gonna eat me alive! I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve, only thing is my Christmas Eve is gonna last 6 to 8 weeks!!!!! I want to update my signature but I am going to wait until the truck is in my driveway, dont wanna jinx it. Thanks again everyone!!!!!

How much will your baby tow? I currently have a Chebby 3500 dually that I would love to trade for a Dodge SRW, but I am uncertain about the towing ability of my 5ver by a SRW.

I have 6k miles on my 05 3500 CTD DWR 4x4 6-speed. I have no issues with the tranny at all. It's a little tight at first but will loosen up after a few thousand miles. Shifts great and very light.

Are you saying you have the G-56 6-speed. If you do, you would be the first person I have heard of to have one. Most all of us have the nv5600.

Texasredrider,
Did you remember the concrete bedliner? How about the matching magnet cup holders? Did you remember to order seats? and windows? You better check the invoice!

Be sure to take it to at least 72 mph or so to check for the 70 mph vibration. I don't think the 05's have that problem, but you'd better check just to be sure.

I assume they will let me test drive it before signing off on it. I plan to do that and also check for the cab plugs under that I have heard were missing causing an in-cab smell. I wonder if anyone with an 05 model has had the vibration?

I'm sure they will let you test drive it. If not, I would seriously consider not buying it. I've never heard of anyone being denied a test drive, so I wouldn't worry too much about that.
