I'd imagine that could / would vary greatly by the individual warranty company !

Most warranty companies, from what I've seen :
  • Won't pay sales taxes
  • Won't cover alignments if needed
  • Won't pay the full labor rate (per hour)
  • Won't pay the market price of the parts required to repair your truck correctly
  • Won't agree with the repair facility the labor time required
  • Won't pay the repair facility in a timely manner
  • Have high deductibles

Guess what ? The contract holder gets to pay all the deficits that the warranty company elects not to cover !

I work at an S&S Tire in Lexington, KY and have dealt with quite a few different warranty companies; most are not what they're cracked up to be.

How many miles do you have?
The warranty manual states that only the info printed in it is to be used.
That being said, it goes on to state that the Cummins warranty starts at the end of the 36k mile factory warranty. Check it out in your manual.

For the most part the extended warranties that you buy are what we at the dealership call "Outside Contracts" which mean that Chrysler doesnt have anything to do with them. Any repairs usually must be approved by a representative agent of that company and sometimes the send an appraiser out to look it over before deciding on if they are going to pay or not. They really dont like paying for anything and they are usually a pain to deal with too. Your best bet is to get what we call a "MAX-CARE". This is one that as you can guess is done through Chrysler and is pretty much identical to your original factory warranty, with a few accept ions of course. If I was looking to get an "EXTENDED" warranty the MAX-CARE is the only way i would go. Check it out you might like it too.

I just purchased a 2007 ram 3500 with the 6.7L and 27000 km. Would the extended warranty (5 year 100000km) be worth the $1400 dealer quote? This is my first diesel and I know they are expensive to repair just trying to decide if that amount is worth it or not?

Go on-line and try to beat it. If you can beat it on-line, take that quote to the dealer and see if they can match it/beat it. If you cannot beat that price on-line then go for it if you want an extended warranty.

ya just think about it if a new motor cost just of 10k and a tranny is about 8k you spend that 1400 and it will cover all the what ifs and its threw crysler thats better than any second hand warranty company
