Hey guys, I'm new to the site and new to the CTD. I want to delete the muffler (I love the sound) I was wondering if leaving the cat is going to take away from the sound/performance or if it'll sound about the same. I've been told that removing the cat voids the exhaust warranty but not the warranty on the motor,is this true? I have an '07 with the 5.9 ho. Also one tech said it would not run right with a straight pipe. I've gotten several different stories about this and I'd REALLY like to know for sure.

I have a 06 5.9 with just the muffler delete. It sounds great IMHO. I have not deleted the kitty yet because of emissions BS but I will eventually. I see no reason that it would void the motor waranty, and the exhaust waranty is basically only to replace the cat if it gets plugged. .02

 

I first bought the mbrp 4"(with muffler, no cat). After about a month i put 4" pipe in place of the muffler. For some reason it seems to resonate less than with a muffler. Towing its pretty loud but it has the nice BRAAAAP sound that i wanted. Mine runs great, not really any performance gains, but some lower egt's.

 

I had muff. delete, a little too loud when towing. Went with a straight thru 4" flow master, sounds great and no drone. I'm going to tow with it this weekend...

 

I have the ME pipe, not too loud, but it is a little louder over stock. Not too loud towing either. I left the CAT and resonator. It is an inexpensive mod, try it, if you don't like it you can always get a better flowing muffler than the stock one.
