Very Rough Riding 2007 QC

I recently purchased a 2007 Quad Cab 4X4 and I am very unhappy with the ride and drive. When I hit a bump in the road it feels as though the rear end of the truck wants to swing around. I own a business and I will not let anyone else drive the truck because I feel it is unsafe. At first I thought it was the tires, so I put 315 Dune Grappler's on with out a lift. I drove the truck for a week before I changed the front coils to level it and I had the same results as the factory tires, and now with the lift the same results. I tried all different air pressure's in the tires (both sets). Before this truck I had a F250 4X4 and it road like a cloud compared to this one. Please give me any advise because I am about to trade it in with only 2000 miles.

Thanks

To improve your ride over bumps get some Bilstein shocks that work with the leveling kit such as the 5100's. Shocks are the problem. Can get them at www.genosgarage.com

When I changed the shocks on mine is was a 1000% improvement..

I went with the MX6 adjustable and have the front on hard and the back on medium..

the shocks that are on there from new are junk... you can work the shock with your arms extended out in front of you with little to no resistance.

My 2000 F250 4x4 Super Duty standard Cab.(Yeah, they still make those too) did the same thing. When I bought the Dodge in my sig, it did the same thing too. I was affraid I should have got the long bed instead. Would you believe after a week of driving I learned that you have to slow down in corners. Amazing how that solved my problem.
I know it's still there, but if I go slow in a turn with bumps it does not happen. It was almost like the truck would want to jump a foot to either side when I drove it too fast through a corner before I learned this.
My suspension is stock. Next week I'm getting a Kore Chase system with bigger tires, and I'm told that this will solve the rear end bounce. I think alot of the problem is the weak shocks as mentioned above along with a heavy helper spring and no weight in the bed.

If it was my brand-new truck it would have been at the dealer long before a dime was spent out of pocket. This is what warranty's are for.

A question - how long did you test drive the truck for? Most test drives last about 20 minuites - which is not long enough. Jim Majheta from the Chicago Tribune recieves letters often along the same lines. He will reply back - "well you bought it to own it for five years or more, why didn't you take 1 or 2 hours to really test it out well?" Another option with a more common veichle is to rent one for a weekend first.

I guess I'm just suprised you bought it and found out afterward it wasn't to your liking?

Any vehicle with an excessively high spring rate (such as the unloaded rear end of a Ram CTD) is going to bounce around the corners... put something in the bed, like it was designed for - or take some leafs out of the pack!

seems we had someone pour a couple inches of concrete in the bed to smooth it out a while back

Hey Guy's thanks for the comments. I took the truck back to the dealer and he gave me the keys to a brand new stock truck and told me to take it for a ride. The stock truck road much better than my truck, it didn't have the bouncing. When I got back to the dealer I told him this and he told me to put my stock tires back on and take my lift off and then they would look at it. I was so ****** off I turned around and walked out. This guy is a customer of mine and that's why I bought the truck from him. On the ride home I called my GM guy and got him to give me a quote on a truck, It will cost me 10 grand more to go that route. I also called the tire shop and talked to them about the tires, and decided to try another set of tires. I put some Hancok MT's on the truck today, and it did help some, but still has the bounce. I ordered some new Bilstein shocks last week, so I am going to try that also. I suspect that the shocks are bad. If this is the case, I am going to send the bill to my dealer and we will see how this is going to end up. I own my own business, and my time is very valuable, and I have waisted enough time on this truck, and with the answer my dealer gave me, I don't think the end result will be good.

What made you so upset by his reply? They sold you a stock truck, and all he asked you to do was to return it to stock, then they could help you out. That's all the responsibility they have! You have to remember thier perspective on this as well - they are in business and have to limit their own liability. Fact is, it's MUCH more difficult to re-sell a modified/lifted truck that's almost new. Why didn't you just get it put back to stock - maybe they would have traded you even up...?

Honestly, you might want to reconsider & count your blessings here. Some dealers, once they observe that your truck has been lifted and changed, won't do anything for you at all... Isn't the option they presented to you better than continuing to throw parts at it (that you don't know will solve the problem) or spending 10K on something else?
