Truck Sound Like A Tractor
Today i was driving and my voltmeter went to zero. Then the radio stopped working. Then when every i came to a stop the truck started chugging like it was not getting enough fuel. Then when i went to take off the truck sounded like a old 1cylinder tractor. Just as i made it to the dealer the lights went dead. Now it will not start at all.

The alternator went south, or the ecm. If it was the batteries it would still have run, the alternator would be able to keep up if the lights were turned off and the radio. I have had to do that a few times on other automobiles to get them home or to the shop.

rpobably not any I had that happen on my 99 and I ran it till the fuel pump quite pumping and then pulled over and got a ride 60 miles in to the ranch. New alternator and then was on my way. I also had the ECM go out a year later. That one could cost a small fortune. On my 99 I wired in an external VM and it worked better than the computer

Alternator, happened on my 96' **** thing melted a hole right through the side of itself when it shorted out. Running radio, headlights, and everything just killed your batteries real fast and since you have that "wonderful" electronic injection, well i don't need to say more

i hope it is not the ECM. i think i would be better off trading the truck in if it is that. they are sapost to look at it some time tuesday and tell me what it is. The worst part is that i won't have a vehical for probaly a week.
