Truck lenghts

I notice that and after talking to a dealer that the trucks can only have so long a wheelbase?

I see you can get a quad cab with a 8 ft. box, but a crew or mega cab only comes with a 5.5 or 6 ft, box.

Is this some kind of car /truck law?

If you were to modify say a megacab and put a 8 ft. box on it would it be illegal?

Would you need a bus license to drive it cause it`s longer?

I though it would be cool to add a third axle (not a functioning one) just for looks and make it look like a big rig

You can get a quadcab short or longbed, And you can get the crewcab in short or longbed.
But the megacab only comes in shortbed.
However there are companies that specialize in making the megacabs into longbeds! I dont believe the mega-longs are in violation of any law.

If I recall correctly, its something to do with the size of the dipping tanks for the frames galvanic coating. However that may not be it at all, as that would be silly to not fix to reach a wider options base.

If you are looking to build a 6x6 you should google T Rex dodge truck and take a look at the green truck. I saw an article about this truck a couple of years ago, it's pretty cool.
