I was detailing the rig last week and noticed rust coming thru the bottom edge of my front driver and passenger side doors! I had the dreaded door rust on my '01 at the seam when I traded it but this time the rust is on the bottome edge of the inside of the door, the very bottom thick edge that actually comes in over the floor board when closed.

Took it to the dealer to have them look at it for warranty work. I purchased it in April of '07 and have 38,000 miles on it. They took pictures and told me that it was the first time they have ever seen it happen on a 3rd gen and first time they have seen it in this location. Of coarse! They reassured me that there would be no problem getting new doors replaced for nothing. I am not holding my breath because I know how much of a battle warranty claims are.

 

I believe the rust protection waranties run to 100,000 miles. I will have to check my 06 now.

 

I dropped it off today for repairs that will be covered under warranty. They are replacing both front doors.

 

Good news from the body shop today. They tore the doors all apart and the insides look great. The rust is on the surface. They are taking the areas down to bare metal and painting it right.

 

My 2000 3500 rusted out on both sides of the doors due to faulty water drains and lack of primer inside the doors.

I will look at current truck and if its doing it again Dodge won't get away this time not honoring the warranty. I took the last truck in at 101,000 and they denied it. I told the guy, this did not start yesterday.
