TPMS/light load
TPMS/light load
Wondering how well this system works. I read on a thread here the other day (can't find it now) that ride and tire life could be enhanced with a tire pressure of 60 up front and 55 in the back so I decided to try it. Dropped the front pressure from 64 down to 60 and the backs from 64 down to 55. TPMS telltale light came on. Raised the rear pressue back up to 60. Still comes on. Tried the "light load" setting and no change. What has been your experience with this system?
I don't have one personally, but I test drove a couple of '08s with the TPMS. Most of them had the light on as soon as I got in, and when I hit the light load button, the warning light cleared right off. I wouldn't expect that 60/55 would be low enough to trigger a pressure warning (especially in the light load setting).
Does the manual give any thresholds for pressure? Maybe you've got a bad TPMS sensor that is reading too low.

Manual doesn't have threshold limits. Just says use recommended pressures as listed on the door jamb tag.
Still expirementing.
I am beginning to think the sensors have issues. Hitting the light load button does nothing.

Aggravation.
Thats been my experience.
If you want to run light load, set it to the light load specs on the nader sticker. Start up and turn the switch to off of light load. Then set it back to light load, take a trip around the block.
Might take a few mins for the sensors to register. Mine always do.

have them removed from your tires. make a small tube from pvc pipe (or whatever you choose) with threaded endcaps, 2" should work. Put an air fitting and throw the tpms sensors in the tube. Air it up to whatever psi makes them happy and throw it in your toolbox or under the seat or whatever.
I know it works for corvette guys who air down for racing etc and cant get the stupid lights to turn off

Ive seen previous post of guys that have tried the throw em in a pipe in the toolbox trick and they said it didnt work.
Mine are still in the stockers. When I upgrade to aftermarket rims Ill get a new set of sensors from the Dealership, there about 25 bucks a piece.

what happens to people that switch to load range d tires with 50 psi max? or people that run bias ply's like swampers with a 30 psi max?
wonder how much force they have to have to be made happy.
Seems crazy the dealer doesn't have a way to turn it off? There are alot of vehicles that live their lives with off road duty where they keep aired down
