Towing Trip from Houston to Utah - Mileage report
Attached is my mileage log for my jeep trip from Houston to Moab. The totals don't add up as I have hidden all the other columns.
I averaged 9.5 MPG over the whole trip. Not bad pulling a 30ft. gooseneck with two fairly heavy jeeps on it plus stuff and 4 people
I weighed in at 23,320 lbs and keep a consitent 70 MPH on the highway.
highest EGT with max mileage on was right at 1400 when the boost fooler wasn't working and highest tranny temp was 215 degree. This all happened on some really steep grades at low speed when sightseeing.

Good to hear. I will making the same trip in July (well, from Dallas to Moab) for the same reason. Some of us from the Lone Star Jeep Club will be heading up around the middle of the month and staying for a week. Of course by then our gas will probably cost a lot more than yours did.

Well it was my first time there in my rig. You have to do Pritchett Canyon, Coyote Canyon and Lockjaw.
The last two are not well known trails and may not exist much longer. They are really great and you can do both of them in about 4 hours assuming no breakage.
Good luck. Pic of my rig attached.

Thanks - luckily only damage was on the coyote canyon trail with a bit of body damage and a blown out upper control arm bushing.
If you need any repairs the local moab 4x4 outpost shop is stellar and only charged me $59 to install a new bushing and that included the part.
Thanks,
Jay

I'm sure I'll be visiting them. Of course before I go I will be going to the local Expert Offroad and telling them to look over the Jeep and replace anything that looks like it might fail. I would hate to break something on the first day or so.

Got back from my trip to Colorado & Moab (from Dallas,TX). Wow, great places. I spent just at $1K
in fuel and averaged 12.05 MPG hauling my trailer with my Jeep on it. Complete trip was right at about 2300 miles. One place had diesel at $5.09
a gallon, had no choice, ouch!
Hey Joe Canyon in Moab, UT.
A very narrow road, and a long way down.

Just gettin over the hole!

Wow! Thanks for posting those. Truly outstanding pics and not a bad job driving either.
Moab is an amazing place. We were just looking at some pics from when we went there last year and decided we really need to get back.
TIA

I have Quadzilla XZT with the monitor. The only reason sometimes the boost fooling wasn't working as I hadn't updated the software before I went.
It works well and keeps the EGT's down to around 1200 when hitting 40 PSI in boost
Thanks,
Jay
