Tow Mirror - Side Swiped!

On Thursday while driving down a country road (to work) a Furd was too close to center yellow stripe and I was also close.....we hit mirrors!! I believe he was way too close, maybe even on yellow line....no way to turn around in time and catch up to him. These tow mirrors do stick out a tad! I have the flip out tow mirrors.

Driver mirror has cracked plastic and lens is shattered. Everything still works fine (heat and power mirror).

I could get away with replacing mirror glass and leaving cracked plastic, but plastic piece hat is missing has wires exposed. Looks like I will have to replace entire mirror assembly.

Where can I find one at LOWEST cost?

Things could have been worse I guess!

Thanks!

Here are a few to look at. I am not sure if they are the cheapest price though.

Man I'd be ticked!! Those are absolutely the best set of mirrors that I have ever had on any vehicle bar none!! That really SUX!

Check the classifieds here at DTR, Egay(pun intended),Maybe even Craigs list for your area.

That's why I always fold the tow mirror in on the back country roads. Those buggers are expensive! Glad when I had to have mine replaced the guy who broke it fessed up. That was a $510 bill! If you get them from a dealer, get the set of new ones, not just the side you need. The dealer told me it was like $20 more (I think) to do it that way. Then you can sell the other side or keep it for a spare.

I never flip mine out unless I am towing the 5th wheel because they stick out to far. I see guys driving around all the time with them flipped out towing nothing and I always wonder how long it will be until someone or something takes them off.

Pet peeve of mine is seeing someone have the mirrors folded out with no trailer. For me it is much easier to use the mirrors in the in location

If you needed the passenger side power/heated mirror I could help you with a new one

same thing happened to me on a one lane bridge. Met a PSD with the big mirrows and we both slapped drivers side mirrows. He tried getting on the bridge just as I was getting off. Busted the glass and plastic housing. It slapped the PSD mirrows all the way back and busted his drivers side window and the mirrow.
I found a like new '02 tow mirrow with heat from one of the Dodge truck salvages in my area for 65 bucks.

BAJA MAN,

Same thing happened to me last Thursday on my way to work also on a back country road. Only difference is I hit the mirror on a school bus. I could not get turned around and he kept on truckin up the road.. It only broke the plastic behind the lens, did not hurt the lens, but it sticks out like a sore thumb. Dodge wanted $207 for one mirror. I ordered mine from ebay for $120.

This happened to me 3 times in one night delivering a car in NYC. I was definately in my lane but on 3 occassions, I kissed another mirror. Luckily mine just folded because it happened on the same side of traffic.

My mirror was turned to the "in" position. I only turn to "out" position when towing. Even if I could have caught up with the guy we could have argued with who was at fault. Not worth the argument and not worth reporting to insurance - still ticks me off

Cheapest I could find on ebay was about 175 + shipping.
