Tire Review
Tire Review
Last month I installed a set of Michelin LTX M/S tires. The stock Michelins were pretty bad with any bit of sbow. Since then, we've had a little snow here and there. But nothing much.
On dry and wet pavement, they are just fine. Smooth, quiet, predictable handeling. No surprises at all. Exaclty what you want in a truck tire.
If you've been watching the weather channel (or maybe looking out your window) you know that a lot of the country has had some pretty severe weather. Here we didn't get a lot of snow, but we ended up with a lot of ice under that snow. Road conditions were some of the worst I'v seen here in the last decade. Highway was closed. Accidents everywhere. People sliding all over the place. I'm a good driver, but some of these knuckleheads were making me nervous.
When I drove home from work, the "blizzard" was about at it's worst. On a couple of occasions, I tested the traction limits. In conditions like that, it's easy to exceed the limits. But when you do, it's a gently loss, no surprises, and easy to gather it back in. After a while, it gets kinda fun.
These tires just ate up the ice and snow. No slipping, no sliding. Just dig in and go. I am so impressed with this truck and these tires. The truck is very well balanced, which kinda surprised me. I don't think there's any better all around tire made. This is my third set, the first on this truck. This is the only truck tire I'll ever buy.
But, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

Those are some pretty good tires. My dad has ran them on his F-450 dump truck for a few years because they wear a lot better than anything he's tried. He's also got them on his '96 Dodge 3500 dually. He has commented to me that he will not put them on his F450 again because the last few sets he's got, some or all of the tires were not true. It could be common to that size however..........235-85-16 E
I ran Michelins too, that's what came on my '98, bit like a son-of-gun the first year, couldn't ask for a better tire, the next year I couldn't do squat without getting stuck, plenty of tread just no bit, the last straw was when a Ford Ranger pulled me out. I ate a lot of crow over that. I've been plowing for probably 8 years and ended up trying a Bridgestone Dueler Revo and what a nice tire, have gone through 2 sets and would recommend these for sure
This is the third set of these I'v bought. I wore the first set on my Dakota after about 55K miles. They still had some tread left, and I probably could have gone another 5-8K miles. But I put a big hole in one of them, so I bought three and got the 4th for free.
I sold the truck at 25K miles on the tires, still lots of tread left on them. I hope this set doesn't lose it's bite. But the last two never did. Right up until I replaced them, the first set was still chewing up the ice and snow like a tracked vehicle.
I bought them on sale, and got a really good price on them.
And, I like the 60K mile treadwear warrenty.

I ran the stock Michelins on my 04 in Cali and only noticed slip at the light crossing the yellow painted ped crossings. Probably cause of the torque getting going, they wore well, about 50K.
I moved to NC last summer and put on Firestone Transforce ATs, much more rain and snow out here and I'm real happy with this tire. Wear isn't appreciable either, I'll get Firestones again.
