TIPM/Modulite/Brake Controller issues

The part of my TIPM that controls fifth wheel right brake/stop light went out. All truck lights work normally. Dealer flashed TIPM but didn't fix it. Said I needed new $700 TIPM. Bought a Modulite after learning about em here/e-mailing with several others who have em. Installed Modulite today and now all trailer lights work properly.

However, now on my Tekonsha P3 brake controller, I get a red dial instead of normal color and it says "Short to Battery" or something like that. It says that whether the fifth wheel hooked up or not. I checked and rechecked my Modulite wiring multiple times. It appears to be installed correctly.

Any ideas? Must be related to the Modulite as the brake controller worked normally before I put it in.

Thanks.

The modulite does not have brake input/output wires, so how can it have an effect. It is just for the light circuits...correct?

Cant think of any reason for you to have brake problems with a module lite either..

Its a seperate deal.

When you hooked up the modulite did you disconnected the wires form the harness so as not to back feed the wires?

The P-3 has a self diagnostic feature to it have you ran it?

My neighbor has a '07.5 and a P3 that did the same thing, crawled all over his trailer and found a bare wire touching the frame. Pretty new trailer too. In your case I'd check the (blue?) wire going from the controller to the plug. I doubt it's the Modulite but maybe something got bumped/cut/twisted during the install. Gotta' hate it when you fix one problem and break something else
