Thinking of getting a 2003-2005 with a 6 speed; 2500 quad car 4x4. Obviously the 5.9s are tried an true. However, I'm also considering maybe a 6.7 with a 6 speed as well; same configuration. I'm no where near an emissions regulated area and do not forsea emmisions regulations around here anytime soon. Your thoughts

 

I would never get the first 1-2 years of any new configuration from any manufacturer. There's always bugs to be worked out, and I let them work it out with other people's money.

That being said, the 6.7 didn't come until '07.5. In '03-'05, the only engine choice is the 5.9.

 

04.5 and 06 seem to be very good years and there's plenty out there to choose from. If your going to look at the 6.7's maybe look at the late 08's or 09's havent heard to many complaints about those other than crappy fuel mileage.
