Thanks and goodbye

I traded my 06 2500 cummins in today for a GMC 2500 lbz duramax so I will be leaving, Thanks you for all the great info and help I recieved. Maybe someday I will be back when Dodge builds a Good Auto transmisson. If my wife could dive a manual I probley would have bought a megacab 6speed. Later and Thanks again.

Was the trans your main reason for getting rid of such a new truck, or did you have previous problems with other stuff, and just had enough??

For what these trucks are costing these days, you gotta get, what you paid for, so, I cant blame ya if you werent happy.

Good luck with the GMC, that was gonna be my other choice if I didnt get my Dodge.

I like Dodge, dont get me wrong they are awesome trucks, I have had 4 cummins 2500s, The main reasons were the trans and not much room in the back for more than one carseat(for in the future..).

Hey hope it works out for you. Hopefully your bottom didn't get too violated with the trade.
Did you think about trading the wife???
I have to agree. The Dodge auto sucks with a diesel.

Hmmm.......That's the main reason we bought a Dodge. I have three small children (two still in car seats, one in booster) and the Dodge was the only one wide enough to accomodate them.

I used to work for GM. I could have got a smokin' deal on their truck. I'm sure you'll like it.

Good luck with that, but I say nobody makes a good stock automatic tranny. If you want to do it right you have to go aftermarket. I have had exsperiance with Ford and Dodge, I pull 20,000 pounds in mules and blew the tranny out of both before 10,000. I put a BTS in my Ford and had no trouble, ya the Alison is a little better but not much.

All the trans shops I talk to tell me they work on more Alison's then 48re"s but I wish you luck . Did your 48re give you trouble our is this a just incase move ? Alison makes a great trans for the bigger trucks but the ones they put in the Chevy trucks are just ok not great . Yes I wouldn't mind a better TC and another gear on the 48re but they have been holding up great on the stock trucks and not all that bad on the bombed ones . Chevy has finally come up with a truck after many years of failures but I just can't help remembering all the junk they put out in the diesel market year after year . I tell you what I would like is a set of Chevy seats in my Dodge them things sure feel good on my back side .

Yes, sorry to say but I came to Dodge after going through 4 trannies between my 02 and 04 duramax. Warranty claims at Chevy will make you crazy, takes orever! My 04.5 Dodge auto hasn't given me any trouble hauling the same load weekly.

good luck.

I'v owned them both. The alisons are a pile in my eyes,(not to mention the rest of the truck) but that is what makes the world go around. Diff. strokes for diff. folks. I wish you well with your new purchase. If you end up likeing it. We may never see you again. But I have a sneeking hunch you will be back. After all, I thought there was a better truck than the dodge. So I did the same thing you did. It didn't take very many miles before I saw the light and never looked back.

seems I heard the tranny in the chevy was designed by allison but not built by them . anyone else heard this? I too have heard bad things about the isuzu motor. a buddy of mine worked for AAA and they bought a dozen isuzu tow trucks and didnt have one left after a year. guess they blew head gaskets constantly and had other issues as well hopefully they have them straitened out.
