Hello All,

I have a 2004.5 Quad Cab but the previous owner forgot to put the tailgate down before disconnecting his 5th wheel. Besides the body work to the left side of the bed and realigning of the striker pins, it needs a new tailgate. I've been looking on ebay and other sites for a tailgate, however, it looks like they all come stripped out. How much more is it going to cost to purchase the locking mechanism and any other parts to completely assemble one of these tailgates? Also how involved will this be? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I know that stuff ain't cheep, I had to replace mine. I lucked out and found one at a local body shop, they just happened to have one laying around. They painted it and transfered all the badges for $700, it was a lot cheeper than going through Dodge. Sniff around. Where are you at... if there is a company that does flat bed conversions, they might have one laying around.

I'm out of Albany Oregon. That's a good idea about the truck bed replacement shops, I'll look into that. Thank you.

 

I posted a wanted ad on ebay and recieved several hits I have deleted all of them because i found one,you might try that.the last one was a perfect condition pat. blue off an 04,I will try to find a old email or somthing and pm you.

 

Yeah, I'd say ebay too....with all the stolen tailgates nowadays, I'm sure they're selling them on ebay.

 

beside the tailgate shell what other parts do you need? i work in a body shop in vancouver, wa. and may be able to help.
