Strange thing happens when A/C first turned on

First of all this is my first post so be easy on me. This is my first diesel truck and love it so far. I have read a lot of post about AC problems but none like mine. When I first start my truck and turn the AC on I can hear the compressor cycling on and off and each time it does this I feel cold air then hot air. It will do this 3-6 times before it actually finally stays on and starts cooling down, then it works like a charm. I live in Phoenix so once it gets past this cycling of the compressor my AC works great. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I can't help you much with your AC problem. But I would like to welcome you to the site. There is some great info on here and some that's not so great, like THIS Thread for example.
You do have to watch for Top though, he's just like an old school marm, if you don't mind your manners he's likely to give your fingers a rap.....

Welcome to the forum. It would be helpful if you can fill out your signature
with year and configuration.

I set up my signature after I made the post so it should be showing up on this reply. I'll be testing the AC again when I leave work today. I'm going to try put the fan on a different setting today to see if that makes a difference. Thanks.

You may have a overly sensitive pressure switch. This could cause it to cycle a couple times as the pressures in the system are changing to what they should be.

thanks for the info. I'm taking it in monday to have the high idle turned on. I will see if they can flash it at the same time.

Started truck today, non recirc, fan set on #2 setting worked fine till I turned the fan up one click, then it blew hot air 2 times before it cooled down???? Will try a different combo today and see what happens.
