Squeek, Squeek, Squeek, make it stop.

I have an annoying squeek in the cab anyone else have this? It sounds like suspension but it seems to be coming from the 4 wheel drive selector. I have the lever not the switch. when it is squeeking I can pull it to the left and it will stop for a minute but then it works its way back and keeps squeeking.

It is driving me up the wall, but other wise I love the truck.

2004.5 3500 full box club cab 13,000 miles

Thanks

I had the same squeak as it turned out to be the floor mount 4 wheel drive shifter, I moved the shifter east to west and get it to stop see if the noise goes away....that is "if" you have the floor mount shifter.

For months I had a very annoying squeak that for some reason was hard to pinpoint just where it was coming from. The squeak was intermittent and there were days it disappeared. It seemed to be coming from the dash area. I suspect that the high pitched frequency of the sound was one reason it was hard to pin down. Anyway, one day I did track the source of the squeak down and it was very easy to fix.
The source (don't laugh too hard now) was that drivers sun visor that was not clipped in place. I discovered that if the sun visor just rests on it's supporting clip that it can make a real annoying and quite loud squeak. Just clipping the arm into the clip stops the squeak.
The squeak was intermittent because there were some days where I did clip the arm into the clip and other days just left it touching.

Get a can of silicone spray lube from Wal Mart and coat the offending parts. Wipe off the excess.

HdPower,

This is the squeek I have. It is coming from the 4x4 floor shifter. The only way I can get it to go away is to hold the shifter to the left but as soon as I let go the squeek will start back in just about a minute. I'm not sure if it is a joint sqeeking or if it is like the rubber on the boot rubbing together. You didn't say how you fixed it. Do you still have the problem?

Mine has a squeak at the shift lever boot; I push the top of the boot down and it goes away until the boot rides up again. Rubbing the shift lever with a candle also works for awhile.

I have a squeek that comes from the drivers seat. Every time it squeeks all I do is move it back and forword a few times and it stops for a while.
