Speedometer adjustment
Speedometer adjustment
I'm sure this question has been answered a thousand times so I appologize for asking it. I tried to search the forums to find an answer but couldn't find anything.
I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 3500 Diesel. I recently changed to a larger tire than what was on the truck originally and now my spedometer is reading three miles an hour slow. What's the easiest way to get it adjusted?
I believe some of the chips have corrections for this but I'm not really looking for more horsepower out of the truck so I probably don't need a chip.
Thanks in advance,
Aaron

I'm not sure about chips correcting speedo error but a programmer will. I have a Smarty Jr and put on larger tires a few weeks ago. I zero'ed my speedo just last weekend and now my GPS and speedo are harmonious! Like you, I am not a hp junkie but am very interested, as most are, in better MPG's so I got the Smarty Jr. So far I've only tried the first program and actually said "wow" out loud the first time I tested it out. So far the mileage seems to be up a bit but I don't have enough miles on it yet for a definite answer. Well worth the $500...
The only other option I know of for correcting the speedo is a dealership visit.
