Spare Key??

coparam, I can lock my doors with the truck running. I do this all the time when pulling my camper and stop at a rest area. I use the automatic door lock button located on the door to lock the doors and my hardware store cut key to unlock the doors. Not sure why you are having a problem given that we both have 06 trucks which I presume would work the same way.

Well I just figured out that if I open my door all the doors unlock, then I close the door and reopen it and then all the doors will lock with the door-switch, I know it sounds confusing but thats what happens??? Kinda sucks opening your door twice just to get all the doors to lock so I can leave the truck running.

Well they cut my key and it unlocks the door but I still can't use it for what I wanted to..I wanted to be able to lock all the doors and leave the truck running. Problem is....when I park the truck, all the doors unlock and therefore just locking the driver's side with the cut key leaves the other 3 doors unlocked. In addition, if I try to lock the doors using the automatic door locks while the driver side is open, they will not lock. So does anyone know if an older key fob (without the key) will work on an 06?
I believe there is a way that you can do away with the auto lock and unlock feature.

Well, I decided to give it a shot.
I went to Wallyworld. They had a high speed go fast key machine that they stuck my key in.
I told them there was a chip in it and they were not allowed to dup it....They said the machine would even tell the make and model of the chip.
Went to Ace. They cut a key for the door. I'll see how it goes. It looks like a poor cut though.
Mine is one of the black keys.

Why don't youi just get another keyless entry remote program it to your truck and keep it with you instead of a spare key. Thats what i did instead of a $150 key being made. I start my truck get out hit the lock button on my keyless entry remote and go inside and let her warm up.

Ok, if you go to page 20 in your manual for the 06 trucks there is a "auto unlock feature programming" that only unlocks just the driver door when you open the drivers door after driving (all doors do not automatically unlock when the driver door is opened). Therefore allowing the use of a spare key.
PS thanks Mancini!!

I use a key fob that splits in the middle (pics pending). I bought it at a truck stop for a couple of bucks. Works great for me, jump out with keylesss entry. close door and hit lock button. Of course mine is an 05 so seperate fob and key.
