Hi everyone's

Finally sold the 98 and I am shopping for a 2003-2004 or 2005 Ram 2500 Quad Cab Laramie 4X4 Diesel Is it any big change that have been done between those 3 years or they all the same . Also anything I should be carefull with potential issue or problem .

Did know my 1998 quite well so I just want to make sure the next one will be as good.

The biggest change between them is the 2003-2004 is a 305/555 no cat and the 2004.5 and 2005 are 325/600 and have a cat. Also the 2004.5-2005 have a full 4 inch exhaust from the turbo back.

3rd gens really dont have a ton of issues and none are really major. 03 have a alternator bracket that if it wasnt changed it is more than likely cracked. 03-04 had 2 engine options. h.o. and s.o. Your always better off with the h.o. especially with the auto. The 8th digit in the vin will tell you which is which ( either c or 6 ) but cant remember off hand whats what, do a search in the 3rd gen section and you'll find which letter means what. The H.O. will have the 48re if an auto is what your after. All 6 spds were h.o.'s.
5spds were s.o.'s and had the little rearend . You also might want to post this in the 3rd gen sections as you'll probably get alot more hits and better info there.
