shifter boot squeek

shifter boot squeek

i have just aquired a lovely high pitched squeek on my transfer case shifter boot under normal driving the vibration of the shifter causes the boot to rub i think. is there a rubber boot under the leather one if so could this be the culprit? woul something like armor all help? any suggestions are welcome.

I had the same problem and sprayed silicon all over the rubber boot its been about a year now and no squeek.

yep there is a rubber boot under the psudo leather shifter boot...

My squeak came fom the linkage below the boot. Remove the boot and spray some lubricant on the linkage.

thanks guys, i found the problem, it was the shifter itself i had used the 4x4 the other day and the shifter wasn't seated quite right. still going to spray silicone on the boot and linkage though.
