My tach died so I bought a new cluster for my '06 from a dealer, cost was $228.

Any issues with the installation?

No issues, just had to provide my VIN and mileage and they programmed it. Simple swap. I considered installing a used cluster, but was concerned that it may still need to be re-programmed because of the sentry key system on the '06+ trucks.

Thanks!

That sounds like the easiest way for this fix if mine finally dies.

I did this fix on my 2006 and it worked well for me. It took me an hour and a half from start to finish.

****ATTENTION****

Learn from my mistake....

DISCONNECT YOUR BATTERIES BEFORE YOU UNPLUG YOUR INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. DO NOT TURN YOUR IGNITION SWITCH ON WITHOUT YOUR INSTRUMENT CLUSTER BEING PLUGGED IN.

I repaired my instrument cluster and while I had it out, I decided to replace scratched/cracked instrument cluster mask/lens. So while I was inside with the laptop, a thunderstorm rolls thru, I ran outside to the truck, windows down (it was hot humid when I tore the dash apart to remove the instrument cluster) I reconnected a battery and put the windows up with the instrument cluster sitting on my kitchen counter.

The above stupidity on my part turned the ECM mother board to toast.
