RPM Gague
Guys need some help with this. My RPM gauge has been acting crazy for some time now. Either the RPM gauge is not working at all or if it is working its not anywhere accurate. When working its always lower where it probably should be and when taking off if the truck was to go past 2000 RPMs the gauge goes crazy and will go past the 3000 mark, and i know I am not nearly pushing the truck that hard. Now my truck is running fine so I haven't really been on top to fix this but I have finally gotten annoyed of this. Any help or ideas as how to fix this would be greatly appreciated?

The tach on 2006 is well known for acting up...moreoften then not, the problem is bad solder joints on the back of the gauge cluster, as well as cluster mounting points that excaberate the problem by causinmg excessive flex in the cluster board, thus leading to early failure of the badly soldered connections.

AND if you are at all handy with a soldering gun, you can follow the steps for the fix here--

Advocate of getting the ban button used on him...
Took me an hour to fix mine. Several weeks now and still going good.

Hmm, my tach does weird things too, but not as bad as this. Mine only shows idle at 300 rpm at times, then jumps quickly if I tap the accelerator pedal like there's some electrical problem. My truck is still under bumper to bumper extended warranty I bought when it was new. Do you think they would cover this repair?
